3DV would like to thank all of you that were able to attend (over 200 attendees) the Autodesk Hits Portland 3.0 event at the Mission Theater.  Thanks to your support and enthusiasm, Portland events continue to be the best attended in North America!  There is no doubt, creativity is booming in PDX!We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did!  Thank you again to all of our sponsors:  Autodesk, 3DPDX, VFX/PDX,  Wacom, 52 Limited, and Anthro.  We hope you will keep 3DV in mind when shopping for Maya, 3ds Max, MotionBuilder, Softimage, Mudbox, ZBrush, V-Ray, Wacom Cintiq, Adobe and many other graphics tools.   We look forward to seeing you all at the next big event!We invite you to provide any feedback on the event – Please let us know what you liked or where we can improve.  We want to make next year even better!

Maya 2011 mental ray rendering solutions

New for Maya 2011 (network license only), mental ray batch render feature has raised several questions from users.  Many are asking what’s the difference between mental ray satellite, batch and standalone for Maya 2011.

Here’s a simple synopsis of the options:

  • mental ray for Maya renderer (1 license with each Maya 2011 license)
  • mental ray Satellite for Maya (8 licenses with each Maya 2011 license)
  • mental ray Batch for Maya (5 licenses with each Maya 2011 network license)
  • mental ray Standalone for Maya (each license must be purchased separately)
